How do you make a good first impression when you’re speaking with someone? No matter who you speak with, and wherever they are from, the best thing you can do to make a good first impression is to relax and smile. If you make mistakes in your English, it’s OK. Everyone makes mistakes. If you can’t catch their questions the first time, it’s OK. Just ask them to repeat the question. Show them your true self and try not to be nervous. People want to know you for who you are, and not how correct your English is.
人と話す時に第一印象を良くするにはどうしたら良いでしょうか？誰と話すにしても、どこの国の人であっても、第一印象を良くするための一番のポイントは、リラックスして笑顔でいることです。英語を間違えても大丈夫です。誰にでも間違いはあります。一回で質問が理解できなくても大丈夫です。繰り返してもらえばいいのです。本当の自分を見せて、緊張しないようにしましょう。相手はあなたの英語がどれだけ正しいかではなく、あなた自身のことを知りたがっています。

このユニットでは、「自己紹介」と「基本的な世間話（スモールトーク）」をするための文法を学びます。
英語学習者を混乱させることが多い質問の1つは、
①「What is/are ___ like?」です。この質問は、
②「What do/does ___ like?」とは異なります。
likeには②のように「〜が好き」という動詞と、①のように動詞以外の「〜のような」という、全く違う意味を持っています。ですので、とても似ている文章ですが、意味が全く違うということに注意して下さい。以下の２つの例を参考にして「〜のような」というlikeの使い方のイメージを作ってみて下さい。
①What is she like? ：彼女はどんな人ですか？
②What does she like? ：彼女は何が好きですか？
①What’s your hometown like? ：あなたの故郷はどんなところですか？
②What do you like about your hometown? ： 故郷のどこが好きですか？
