What does “sub-I” stand for?

I was listening to this episode of Harvard medical school Labcast, and could’t figure out this term “sub-I”.

It’s not on dictionary nor could I find it on the net.

Hi there! That’s a good question. Sometimes it’s tough to find the exact meaning of words. I searched “what does sub-i mean medical school” in Google and found this:
